Black Leather Jacket
If you don’t currently own a black leather jacket then RUN, don’t walk, to buy one immediately. Everyone needs at least one black leather jacket in their closet. I have three, and to me they all serve a different purpose: one has gold asymmetric zips, one is a clutch draped front, the other is moto-esque with shearling sleeves; together they are my first choice, go-to outfit completers.
Why do you need a leather jacket? Well, it’s the ideal topper for any type of ensemble. Want to throw on jeans and a simple tee but fear it’s too boring? Elevate it with a black leather jacket. Have a dress that you’re afraid is too dressy to wear without a special occasion? Dress it down and edge it up with a black leather jacket. That romper you love but are afraid you can’t wear into fall? A black leather jacket will perfectly transition it into the cooler season.
Fun fact: my black leather jacket with gold zips was the first expensive piece of clothing I added into my wardrobe. I contemplated the cost for days but ultimately concluded it was just what my wardrobe needed; eight years and a fully replaced lining later it’s still one of my favorite items. A black leather jacket is a great splurge-worthy investment piece. And if you can’t afford to buy the ultimate designer one now, don’t sweat it, just look for one with a perfect fit that will fill the void.
I styled the same BB Dakota jacket two different ways below to show the versatility and ease of this piece.
